Whether you are making molé or simply want chile with a more complex flavor profile, The Chile Guy has what you need—mulato chile, a relative rarity in the US market.
About Mulato Chile
Mulato chiles are related to poblano peppers, which are dried to make ancho chile. While their heat profile is similar (slightly higher—2,500 to 3,000 units on the Scoville Heat Scale) than its relative, mulato chiles offer a complex blend of flavors that include chocolate and licorice with hints of cherry and tobacco.
Mulato chile is one of the “trinity” of chiles required for traditional Mexican molé.
